Capturing the Joy of Collecting With Topps & Fanatics

Abandon Editorial teams up with Fanatics to launch their latest campaign for Topps, directed by Forrest Davis from Omaha Productions. Edited by Michael Papavero of Abandon Editorial, the spot brings to life the magic of Topps and the chase, imagination, and joy at the heart of collecting. "It was a joy to collaborate with such a passionate team to reimagine this familiar story," Michael shares, noting the unique experience of working with 35mm film and the thrill of watching the project evolve from video-tap recordings to stunning 4K scans. 

The campaign features a heartwarming narrative centered around young Lincoln’s birthday celebration, where the excitement of unwrapping a pack of Topps trading cards ignites his imagination. With the classic baseball organ call of "Charge!" as a backdrop, we follow Lincoln’s grandmother on an adventurous quest to help him complete his collection, including a special encounter with Mets star Pete Alonso at Citi Field. The spot concludes with the powerful message, “this is why we collect,” embodying the spirit, excitement, and tradition of trading that resonates with collectors everywhere.
